Kiril Domuschiev expects world leaders to secure global food provision
The CEO of Huvepharma will welcome US President Bill Clinton (1993 – 2001) in Sofia
“It is an honour and a privilege for me to host a Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) meeting in Sofia. President Clinton's initiative is a chance for Bulgaria and business leaders in our country to be part of the search for important solutions to global problems, such as food security, education and climate change.”
This message appeared on the Facebook page of Kiril Domuschiev, President and CEO of Huvepharma and chairman of the Confederation of Employers and Industrialists in Bulgaria (KRIB). The businessman will host a meeting of the 42nd US President’s Clinton Global Initiative charity, to take place on 12 May at the National Palace of Culture (NDK) in Sofia.
I expect that a new Commitment will be launched in Sofia, which will successfully be finalized at the 2023 CGI meeting in New York City this September," said Domuschiev.
Kiril Domuschiev is a member of the CGI Advisory Council, and in October 2022 he held a speech to business and civil society leaders at the annual Clinton Global Initiative meeting.
Now he says that the world is facing enormous challenges, one of which is food security for an ever-increasing global population. "Global demand for resources is expected to double in the next 30 years. This will require innovation aimed at protecting livestock health and putting agriculture at the centre of attention," states the Huvepharma President.
At the event in Sofia on 12 May, I will again call on world leaders to focus on ensuring a secure food supply through innovation, cooperation and long-term planning to ensure global food needs are met."
As a reminder, at last year's Clinton Global Initiative meeting, the philanthropic organization members made more than 140 commitments to action to improve access to health care, improve resilience, create employment opportunities, and support refugee resettlement, among other things.
Since the initiative's inception in 2005, CGI's community partners have made more than 3,700 commitments to action (CTA) that have impacted the lives of more than 435 million people in more than 180 countries.
Clinton Foundation's press release announced the event in Sofia noting that the Balkan Peninsula is a critical region at the forefront of many of the global challenges that CGI seeks to address. This month's meeting aims to explore ways to address these challenges, build new partnerships and take action ahead of the CGI 2023 Meeting in New York City.
