Getting closer to Mr. and Mrs. Economy 2020
In a year of great trials, the awards will be even more valuable
A professor decided to teach a lesson to his students. In a large jar he put a few stones. He asked if the students thought it was full, and they confirmed. Then he added some gravel, then some sand and the jar always seemed to be full. But then it turned out that there was room for water, as well. "The jar is your life, the big stones are the most important things in it, like family, friends, career. If you fill it with small things, you will not have room for the big stones", the teacher explained.
Mr. and Mrs. Economy Awards is one of the most significant moments in the development of Economy magazine. It is like the milestones that serve as a landmark for the journey. Keeping up the good tradition, every year our magazine presents the statuette "The Fisherman and the Goldfish" to the business leaders with the highest achievements. Since 2015, we have been organizing this prestigious event together with the Confederation of Industrialists and Employers in Bulgaria.
In the year of the Metal Rat, Mr. and Mrs. Economy turns 30. And what a year it has been… We want to believe that despite the trials, the tradition will remain the same. And at an official ceremony, as always, we will present the awards to the winners who have successfully gone through the difficulties that 2020 has offered us in abundance. Yes, the Mr. and Mrs. Economy Awards in this difficult situation will be memorable. In the last two years, the big honors have gone to bank and telecom representatives. The reality confirmed that it was not a coincidence.
Petia Dimitrova, CEO of Postbank:
You set a good example
Petia Dimitrova is the only two-time winner of the Mr. and Mrs. Economy Award. In 2015 and 2018, the competent jury ruled that among the women in the business with the greatest achievements is the CEO of Postbank. When she received the Goldfish for the second time in 2018, Mrs. Economy acknowledged: “It is extremely gratifying to us that after trying to grow and be among the leaders for several years, we are now receiving this prestigious award. We made a merger (Alfa Bank), we are on our way to a new one. Bulgarian business needs good examples, that should be encouraged. Next year will be crucial for us. " And it turned out to be really important, because along with the many activities in 2019, the operational merger with Piraeus Bank Bulgaria was finalized.
Over the years, Postbank, led by Petia Dimitrova, has shown zeal in its ambition to improve its products and services. "In this process, digitalization is not just a step, but a long way we need to go. The future of banks is associated with more digitalisation and the introduction of artificial intelligence, and no one can bury their heads in the sand and deny that it is coming”, Petia Dimitrova emphasized at the end of 2018. She went on believing that digitalization was the basis for the banking of the future. Thus, Postbank turned out to be ready for today's reality, in which customers have the available opportunities to operate remotely.
An anniversary is an anniversary, even in this tremulous year for the whole world. In connection to the upcoming edition of the competition, Petia Dimitrova said: "Few awards can boast a 30-year history, and the Mr. and Mrs. Economy Awards has long become a true compass for the development of entrepreneurship, business and change in society. The awards are also a special moment that every successful business looks forward to, so congratulations to you - the organizers of KRIB and Economy magazine. It is an honor for me that, as CEO of Postbank, in recent years I have had the chance to be a two-time winner of the Mrs. Economy Award. The wonderful statue of Stavri Kalinov is only one, but it is an award for our entire team and, therefore, is placed in my office - as a confirmation that our common aspiration for development has been appreciated by established authorities in the most prestigious business competition in our country. Keep setting a good example and encouraging the Bulgarian business. Happy anniversary"!
