Billa opened its new logistics base in the village of Zagore for BGN 60 million
The new center of the retail chain will create 250 jobs in the Stara Zagora region
Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov officially opened the new logistics base of Billa Bulgaria in the village of Zagore. The retail chain's investment in the project is estimated at BGN 60 million and is expected to create 250 new jobs in the Stara Zagora region.
This is the company's third logistics center in Bulgaria. Since its arrival in the country 25 years ago, the company has invested over BGN 1.1 billion to date.
Confidence in the Bulgarian market and the investment climate are extremely important – they show that our country not only deserves to be a worthy member of the European Union and has earned its recognition for Schengen, but also has the full support of its partners for joining the eurozone and the OECD," said Zhelyazkov at the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The Prime Minister expressed confidence that in a few days we will have reason to be satisfied with the assessment we will receive (the positive assessment by the ECB and the EC of Bulgaria's readiness to join the eurozone – ed. note).
The expansion of the activities of investors such as your company in Bulgaria is recognition of our efforts to build a favorable business environment and attract quality investments," said Economy Minister Petar Dilov, who also took part in the ceremony.
During the ceremony, he emphasized the importance of the investment for the Bulgarian economy, as it will not only create new jobs but also increase productivity and gross domestic product (GDP), as well as bringing fiscal benefits for the state.
The logistics center has been built with a focus on sustainability and environmental protection. The facility in the village of Zagore features technological innovations and will be certified under the BREEAM international standard for green construction.
