The topic of a fair transition, in itself, implies expectations for something fair. It is no secret that for workers and the population of the Kyustendil region, the main issues are jobs, retraining, and, last but not least, the gap between the expectations of employees and employers.
This was stated by Eng. Metodi Chimev, regional governor of Kyustendil, during the international conference “Fair Transition in Kyustendil,” organized by Brand Media Bulgaria in partnership with the Municipality of Kyustendil, Elektrohold Bulgaria, and Bobov Dol Thermal Power Plant.
“We expect this conference to provide an opportunity for representatives of European countries that have gone through this period to share their experiences. To share practices that will enable us, as employers, to find the right solutions,” added Mr. Chimev.
It is no secret that this is a sensitive issue and has been the subject of discussion for several years. There are expectations, and they are worrying – whether a balance will be found, whether the right solutions will be found," added the regional governor.
He expressed his hope that solutions would be found during the conference, including for the future.
We hope to show and inspire through the example set by other regions in the European Union," said Asenia Dimitrova, Project Manager at Brand Media Bulgaria, during the opening.
