The government is allocating 88 million euros for innovation in industry

Nearly 88 million euros will be directed toward joint projects between industry and academia for the development and implementation of new technologies. The Ministry of Innovation and Digital Transformation has published a new procedure for public consultation under the “Scientific Research, Innovation, and Digitalization for Smart Transformation” Program (SRIDST).

The measure is aimed at so-called industrial programs – larger projects in which companies and scientific organizations work together on a specific technological or regional problem. The idea is for these developments not to remain solely at the research stage, but to progress to testing, implementation, and preparation for real-world application in business.

Each project must be carried out in partnership. It must include at least one university, a research organization, a Center of Competence, or a Center of Excellence, as well as a minimum of three micro, small, or medium-sized enterprises. Large companies, public institutions, nongovernmental organizations, and other participants may also join the consortia.

The maximum funding for a single industrial program can reach 15.3 million euros. However, this amount is for the entire project and is distributed among the various activities and participants involved.

The grant will cover between 50 and 65 percent of eligible costs, depending on the type of support and the region in which the project is implemented.

Among the technological areas listed in the procedure documents are microelectronics, cybersecurity, the Industrial Internet of Things, biotechnology, hydrogen technologies, smart healthcare, and low-emission industry.

The measure is intended to bridge the gap between scientific research and its practical application in the economy. Therefore, projects are expected to include not only a research component but also a clear plan for utilizing the results, managing intellectual property, and continuing development after public funding ends.

The application process is not yet open. Businesses, scientific organizations, and other interested parties may submit proposals in accordance with the terms and conditions by September 18, 2026, via ISUN.
