The owner of the Chepelare ski factory goes public
Amer Sports plans to raise $1.8 billion by selling 100 million shares
One of the largest manufacturers of ski equipment in the world and the owner of the ski factory in Chepelare (Bulgaria) - Amer Sports - plans to go public on the New York Stock Exchange. The company is targeting a market capitalization of about $8.7 billion, with plans to raise $1.8 billion by selling 100 million shares at a price between $16 and $18.
The initial public offering is expected to be the largest since the beginning of the year.
Founded in 1950 in Finland, Amer Sports operates in three sectors and is home to iconic brands such as Salomon, Wilson, Atomic, Arc'teryx, Suunto and Precor.
The company is present in 41 countries worldwide and employs more than 10,000 people. It manufactures about one-fifth of its products at its own facilities, located primarily in Europe and North America.
In Bulgaria
The Chepelare factory is one of the most important for the company along with production facilities in Austria, Romania, Canada and the USA. Thus, the ski plant in Bulgaria ranks among one of the largest in the world.
Last year, the company also announced its project for a new plant in Bulgaria - this time, it will be based in Asenovgrad.
