Aurubis will invest 1.12 million euros more in Pirdop, Zlatitsa and Anton
The company continues its program to support the development of the three municipalities in the Central Highlands of Bulgaria

Aurubis Bulgaria AD is providing 1.12 million euros for activities that will support the development of Pirdop, Zlatitsa and Anton. The funds will be invested as part of the new partnership programs with the three municipalities in the Central Highlands of Bulgaria. The mining and metalworks company signed framework agreements worth half a million euros each with the municipalities of Pirdop and Zlatitsa and 125,000 euros with the municipality of Anton.
The deadline for the implementation of the projects in Pirdop and Zlatitsa is a year and a half from now - September 2025, and in the municipality of Anton - September 2027. Program priorities for development are education, culture, social activities and a healthy lifestyle.
The funds are provided to improve the conditions in the "Savo Savov" and "Todor Vlaikov" schools in Pirdop, "St. Paisiy Hilendarski" school and the vocational high school in Zlatitsa, kindergartens in Pirdop, Zlatitsa and Dushantsi, and for social scholarships and meals for students in Zlatitsa. There’s also ongoing support for the medical offices in the villages of Karlievo, Tsarkvishte and Petrich and the medical centers in Pirdop and Zlatitsa. Outside the scope of the programs, the company supports the MBAL-Pirdop hospital as well.
The construction of new children’s playgrounds in Anton, Dushantsi and Pirdop, energy-efficient street lighting in Anton and a video surveillance system in Dushantsi are planned. A budget has been provided for the community centers in Pirdop, Zlatitsa, Dushantsi, Petrich, Tsarkvishte and Karlievo. The mining company also continues with its traditional support for cultural initiatives, sports activities, amateur bands and social clubs in the region.
The agreements were signed between the mayors of Pirdop - Angel Gerov, Zlatitsa - Lyubomir Tsvetkov, and Anton - Andrey Simov (on the municipal side), and Tim Kurth - CEO of Aurubis Bulgaria and Ivaylo Georgiev – head of Sustainability and Public Affairs in the company (on the corporate side).

The cooperation with the three municipalities in the Central Highlands of Bulgaria is part of the company’s long-term policy for sustainable development of the region. The partnership programs are framework agreements that set the main priorities and are carried out in the spirit of transparency.
Aurubis Bulgaria AD, part of Aurubis Group, operates the copper extraction plant near Pirdop and Zlatitsa and is the largest exporter and importer enterprise in Bulgaria. Its main activity is the processing of copper concentrates, production of refined (cathode) copper, copper anodes and secondary products such as sulfuric acid and iron silicate.
