Bulgarian satellite technology company EnduroSat is expanding its presence in Western Europe with a new strategic unit in Luxembourg. This step comes after two successful large-scale investment rounds and the opening of a new production center in Sofia – all within the last year.
The company announced the official opening of a new office and laboratory in Luxembourg as part of its long-term strategic goals rather than simply as a commercial expansion. The new unit is expected to strengthen EnduroSat’s position at the heart of the continental space industry.
At a time when Europe is facing growing pressure to build sovereign space communications, Earth observation capabilities and defense systems, most jurisdictions on the continent are struggling with cumbersome regulatory processes and slow frequency licensing. Luxembourg is one of the few exceptions, with a clear legal framework, fast administrative procedures and active government support for innovation in the sector.
Luxembourg’s strategic focus on space, its flexible regulatory environment and fast licensing processes are exactly what EnduroSat needs to expand the EU’s sovereign space program,” notes Raicho Raichev, founder and CEO of EnduroSat.
Riding the wave for €150 million
The opening of the office and laboratory in Luxembourg follows one of the most intense investment periods in the company’s history.
On May 1, 2025 EnduroSat raised €43 million in a round led by Peter Thiel’s US Founders Fund. Delian Asparuhov, a partner in the fund and co-founder of Varda Space, who is himself of Bulgarian origin, played an active role in the deal. The funds were earmarked for the development of the new generation Gen3 satellites and the construction of a space center in Sofia.
Just a few months later in October 2025 the company announced a second even more ambitious round of funding — $104 million raised from Riot Ventures, Google Ventures, Lux Capital, the European Innovation Council Fund and Shrug Capital. Parallel to the financing the new space center in Sofia opened – 17 500 m² with RF laboratories, clean rooms and space qualification facilities, ranking Bulgaria as one of the significant production hubs for satellite constellations in Europe.
It is against the backdrop of this accelerated growth that the Luxembourg office makes sense: the company now has the capacity and funding to think not only about production but also about its European market presence.
The geopolitical context as a driving force
Behind the corporate announcement lies a broader picture: Europe is in dire need of independent orbital infrastructure in a context of growing geopolitical tension. The ability to deploy critical space assets quickly and predictably is becoming a strategic priority not only for private business but also for governments.
In this context EnduroSat’s presence in Luxembourg is a logical step towards building partnerships that will accelerate Europe’s response when new orbital capabilities are needed.
