GERB, BSP, Vazrazhdane and DPS postponed pension reform
Former coalition partners and pro-Russian party decide not to introduce multi-fund model
Parliament postponed the second reading of amendments to the Social Security Code (SSC) introducing multi-funds into supplementary pension insurance. Denitsa Sacheva (GERB-SDS) made the proposal after the texts were reported and discussed in the plenary hall.
129 MPs voted in favor of postponing the pension reform, 28 were against and six abstained.
The postponement of the vote was supported by GERB-SDS, “Vazrazhdane,” DPS-New Start, BSP-United Left, one member of There Is Such a People, five members of the Alliance for Rights and Freedoms, four members of Velichie and two independent MPs. Those against were from “We Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria” (PP-DB) and three from MECH. Six others from MECH abstained.
The debate on the bill at second reading focused on the fees and deductions in favor of pension companies for carrying out activities related to supplementary mandatory pension insurance and for managing pension funds and sub-funds within them, BTA reports.
During the debate Vazrazhdane and BSP-United Left spoke out against the fees and deductions in favor of pension companies. Former Social Minister Borislav Gutsanov said he had voted against the bill in the Council of Ministers and announced that he intended to transfer his funds from a private pension fund to the National Social Security Institute (NSSI).
