The entire management team of the state-owned project company “Kozloduy NPP – New Builds” EAD has been replaced. This is evident from a filing in the Commercial Register submitted by a representative of the sole owner, “Kozloduy NPP” EAD.
The current CEO Petyo Ivanov will be replaced by Alexander Mihaylov, the director of “National Energy Operator” EAD (NEO) – the state-owned company tasked with supporting the development of the renewable energy sector, including through the construction of electricity storage capacity using traditional and innovative technologies. Mihaylov joined the company on April 1, 2023 – during the second caretaker government of Galab Donev.
Records show that the company has a registered capital of €30 million and has operated at a loss for the first two years since its establishment – in 2023, the loss was €928 000, and in 2024, €2.62 million. There is still no financial report for 2025. There is a lack of public information regarding the state-owned company’s activities – none is available on the official website or in the public domain.
For his part Petio Ivanov became head of the company responsible for the construction of Units 7 and 8 of the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant on January 1, 2024 – during the term of the “Denkov” coalition cabinet, supported by “We Continue the Change,” “Democratic Bulgaria,” GERB and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms.
In addition to the director the majority owner is also replacing the other members of the project company’s Board of Directors – Yanko Dzhinov, Alex Nestor and Georgi Dobrev. Miroslav Damyanov, Lyuben Marinov and Hristiyan Yanev will replace them.
The application for the change in management was submitted today, June 8, 2024, and is pending entry in the Commercial Register.
