“Nomad Capital Group” EOOD, registered at the end of March 2026, wants to buy the decommissioned “ContourGlobal Maritsa East 3” thermal power plant. This is evident from an application filed with the Commission for Protection of Competition (CPC) seeking approval for the planned merger.
The CPC’s announcement itself states that the acquiring company, which has a capital of 50,000 euros, is not currently operating. According to the regulator, this means that the transaction is not expected to have an impact on the market for the production and trade of electricity within the country.
A check of the Commercial Register shows that the ultimate owner of “Nomad Capital Group,” through a series of companies with similar names, is Maria Georgieva Sevdalinova. She is best known as the manager of “Nomad Energy Company,” which is engaged in electricity trading. The company’s website shows a significant increase in the physically traded volumes of electricity – from 2.631 million MWh in 2022 to 4.815 million MWh in 2025.
A check of the ESO registers shows that the company has been a registered coordinator of a standard balancing group since May 26, 2021.
Data from the company’s financial report as of the end of 2025 show that its sales revenue reached 110 million euros and is growing by over 40% year-over-year. The company’s profit is over 50 million euros – up 650%.
The company has assets worth 1.056 billion euros, of which 971.6 million euros are expected receivables. Liabilities are estimated at 673 million euros.
According to information from "Capital", Sevdalinova is linked to Hristo Kovachki’s business. Among other things, the report cites ties to energy companies owned by him or associated with him, as well as a long-term contract for the purchase of electricity from the Bobov Dol Thermal Power Plant.
“Mediapool” also notes that among “Nomad’s” main customers and suppliers are companies such as “Tibiel”, the Bobov Dol Thermal Power Plant, “Aktiv Energy Corporation” and “Intellect Energy and Emissions Consultants”, which the media outlet describes as publicly linked to the group around Kovachki.
However, formally, Kovachki does not appear anywhere in the ownership or management structure.
We note that following the expiration of the contract with the state for guaranteed purchase prices at the end of 2023, the “ContourGlobal Maritsa East 3” Thermal Power Plant is no longer in operation. Currently, the company, owned by the American firm ContourGlobal, operates only renewable energy projects – one small solar park and four battery energy storage facilities.
