Nearly 300 Bulgarian companies are receiving EU funding for AI and cloud technologies

Another 286 small and medium-sized enterprises will receive funding to implement artificial intelligence, cloud technologies, and other Industry 4.0 solutions. The Ministry of Innovation and Digital Transformation announced that, for this purpose, the budget for the procedure under the “Competitiveness and Innovation in Enterprises” Program will be increased by just over 71 million euros.

This will bring the total funding for the measure to over 125 million euros, with 512 companies receiving support.

The call for proposals is part of efforts to boost the competitiveness and digital transformation of Bulgarian enterprises within the framework of European cohesion policy. Companies will be able to implement artificial intelligence, cloud solutions, the Industrial Internet of Things, cyber-physical systems, digital twins, big data analytics, virtual and augmented reality, and 3D printing technologies.

The funds may also be used to purchase machinery and equipment with sensors for collecting and analyzing information in real time, as well as for automating production processes and improving product quality.

Interest in the program is significant—a total of 742 companies have submitted project proposals. The budget increase will allow some of the companies that initially did not receive funding to also receive support.
