Stankov to present huge Bulgarian energy projects in Japan
The Minister of Energy held a preliminary meeting with the Japanese Ambassador to Bulgaria, H.E. Hisashi Michigami

Four new pumped storage power plants, energy storage projects, two new nuclear units at the Kozloduy NPP. These and other energy initiatives of long-term strategic importance will be presented by Minister Zhecho Stankov during the EXPO 2025 World Exhibition in Osaka.
On Friday, he held a preliminary meeting with the Japanese Ambassador to Bulgaria, H.E. Hisashi Michigam, and the two discussed opportunities for deepening bilateral cooperation in the field of energy.
Bulgaria and Japan have a stable foundation for their relations, especially in the energy sector. Our work so far has proven the potential for expanding cooperation, and I am convinced that together we can implement large-scale initiatives of mutual interest," Stankov said.
During the meeting, the joint experience with Toshiba Corporation more than 30 years ago, when the construction of the largest pumped storage hydroelectric power plant in the Balkans, the Chaira Pumped Storage Hydroelectric Power Plant, began in our country, was also highlighted.
