Sunotec acquired a stake in the Bulgarian software company Adex Energy
The two companies are already working on a pilot project at the hybrid photovoltaic park in Pernik
The Bulgarian-German company Sunotec has acquired a minority stake (15.9%) in the Bulgarian software company Adex Energy. The deal took place in August, and the company plans to increase the initial investment to 40% by mid-2025.
The purpose of the acquisition is to develop smarter and more efficient energy management systems.
Adex Energy, a pioneer in software solutions for the energy sector, offers cutting-edge tools for businesses to optimize and streamline their energy ecosystems. Combined with Sunotec's expertise, the two companies want to help clients streamline their electricity generation, storage, and sales by offering data-driven, AI-enhanced strategies that lead to real-time insights.
By 2025 Sunotec and Adex will aim to establish a stable presence in Bulgaria and expand throughout Europe, providing comprehensive energy management systems that will drive the energy transition forward," commented Sunotec's head of strategy Alexander Zahariev.
Adex's solution is based on collecting big data from multiple sources to develop intelligent tools that analyze and provide strategy-based calculations. The innovation lies in developing different strategies and figuring out how to apply them in power plants to inform decisions such as when the plant should run when it should supply power to the battery, and when the battery should deliver power to the grid.
The work of the two companies has already started with a pilot project in the hybrid photovoltaic park in Pernik, using Adex Energy's hardware and software to optimize energy production and storage. This test initiative, which includes a 26 MWp solar system and a 61 MWh energy storage system, will use Adex Energy's innovative hardware and software to collect and analyze real-time data.
