The Industrial Park in Svishtov is the first local gas operator
The municipal company has been granted a 35-year license to supply energy directly to investors, ensuring lower costs
“Industrial Technology Park – Svishtov” (ITP) is the first industrial zone in Bulgaria that has the right to distribute natural gas within its territory. According to information from the Municipality of Svishtov, the company has received license number L-893-8A from the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC).
This historic move for the country allows the park to operate a closed gas distribution network and supply energy directly to end customers within its territory for a period of 35 years.
With this, it has become the first industrial park with such a license in Bulgaria,” the municipality notes.
For potential investors, this news means an end to cumbersome procedures for connecting to external suppliers. By acquiring the license, DITP “creates a suitable environment for developing products with higher added value” and provides the opportunity for “independent natural gas supply to consumers,” the municipality notes.
The license is valid for 35 years, and through the operation of a gas distribution network (GDN) in the industrial park, natural gas can be transported and delivered to end customers, who will use it as an energy source for production and/or residential needs within the park."
Through its own network, the industrial park will be able to negotiate better prices for natural gas for its tenants, which can be seen as a prerequisite for the stable development and growth of the regional economy. The effects will be felt directly through reduced energy costs and increased production efficiency, according to the municipality.
We remind you that the industrial park, whose construction begins in May 2024, is municipally owned, but its implementation is the result of a collaboration among state institutions. The project has a total value of nearly €13 million, secured under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) through the Ministry of Innovation and Growth. To ensure the speed of construction, the Bulgarian Development Bank (BDB) provided bridge financing, and additional resources were also provided by the FLAG Fund.
