Solaris opens large hybrid renewable energy park near Selanovtsi
The photovoltaic plant has a capacity of 59.8 MWp and batteries with a capacity of 107.3 MWh

The Selanovtsi hybrid energy park, located in the village of the same name, has been officially opened. The facility, which is a combination of a photovoltaic park and energy storage batteries, is being built by the engineering, supply, and construction company Solaris Holding AD, a joint venture between the Bulgarian-German company Sunotec and the main shareholders of Eurohold Bulgaria.
The Selanovtsi solar power plant has an installed capacity of 59.8 MWp and an electricity storage system with a capacity of 107.3 MWh. The solar power plant can produce 79,892.71 MWh of electricity per year, which could supply over 22,000 households and save 1,029,206 tons of harmful emissions.
This project is yet another one that will have a positive impact on electricity prices on the exchange and will help reduce pressure on the electricity system.
The electricity produced is managed by Electrohold Trade EAD, part of the Electrohold Group.
According to the project contractor, it is located near the fertile green fields in the village of Selanovtsi, but is built on the only piece of land there where nothing grows and is not cultivated.
Kaloyan Velichkov, CEO of SUNOTEC, commented that the project was challenging for the company.
Our vision is in line with the situation on the energy markets. We want every investment to benefit everyone,” he said.
The hybrid park was implemented with funding from UBB. The bank's Executive Director of Corporate Banking, Dobromir Dobrev, commented that such projects are new to the bank and that it is still learning “how to make this business work.”
Investments in green energy are important and are one of the target segments in which we are developing,” he said.
The cost of similar projects on which the bank has worked and is working exceeds BGN 1 billion, which is impressive and demonstrates the financial sector's interest in this area.
According to Vladimir Dichev, Chief Commercial Director of Electrohold Bulgaria, this project “creates an opportunity to learn new things and become one of the leaders in the energy and green energy market.”
Being first in business is one of the most important things,” he said.
Electrohold Trade recently received an extension of its license to trade in electricity until 2035.
The mayor of Oryahovo, Rosen Dobrev, commented that this is one of the most valuable investments that has ever been made in the area. According to him, it will help this traditionally forgotten region become more visible to investors.
Solaris is set to open four more such projects this year – battery-powered PV plants – which will be even larger in size.
